My Favorite Asian Story is an independent newsletter publication launched in July 2025 by Tiên Nguyễn. We post new stories every other Tuesday. Your support makes this site possible and allows My Favorite Asian Story to continue to exist. Thank you so much!

What is this?

This is a community project in which I ask friends, family, community members, and probably eventually strangers to share their favorite stories about Asian American history and why they love it.

Who are you?

I’m Tiên. I’m a writer, journalist, and documentary filmmaker. I’m also a Vietnamese refugee and so-called small town Asian raised in North Carolina. I love a good underdog story.

Why are you doing this?

1. For fun 😄
2. To learn, celebrate, and preserve Asian American history
3. To connect with like-minded folks who value collective memories
4. To offer an educational resource for students, teachers, or anyone who wants to understand more about Asian American history and culture
