Thanks for reading My Favorite Asian Story – a newsletter where I ask people to share their favorite story about Asian American history and culture. I post new stories every other Tuesday!

I’m Tien, a journalist, documentary filmmaker, and Vietnamese American refugee. Over the past few years, my work has focused on highlighting the histories of marginalized communities. I realized, however, that my own knowledge of Asian American history was pretty incomplete. And when I asked several friends what was their favorite Asian American history story, they struggled to come up with one.

This is my humble offering to help change that. My goal is to contribute to our community's collective memory and have fun doing it. Respect to all the ethnic studies professors, historians, and public educators already doing this invaluable work.
